Dr Bambrough took up her role at Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences (MCCN) in 2007 and in collaboration with Ms Tina Karabatsou, Consultant Neurosurgeon, Neuro-oncology Clinical Lead developed the awake craniotomy service at the centre. In 2010, Dr Bambrough received an Innovation Award to introduce fMRI clinically and in collaboration with Mr David Coope, Consultant Neurosurgeon and Professor Matt Lambon-Ralph introduced routine pre-operative fMRI to MCCN. In 2012, Dr Bambrough was awarded the Division of Neuropsychology Early Career Award for her contribution to pre-operative and intra-operative functional mapping. Dr Bambrough and Mr Coope have presented nationally in relation to clinical practice in awake craniotomy and the clinical validation of the assessment tools used in theatre.
Dr Bambrough is chairing a working group for the Division of Neuropsychology, Professional Standards Unit to develop Clinical Practice Guidelines for Neuropsychology clinicians working in awake craniotomy to establish core competencies in the field.
