Dr. Catrin Austin

Technical Adviser in the Managed Access team at NICE

Catrin joined NICE in 2018 developing and scoping guidelines in the Centre for Guidelines. In 2021 she moved to the Managed Access team within the Centre for Health Technology Evaluation. Her team assesses whether medicines are suitable candidates for the Cancer Drugs Fund and the Innovative Medicines Fund, functions that provide earlier patient access to promising drugs while data collection continues.

Catrin has overseen CAR-Ts and other cancer therapies through managed access and facilitated the entry of gene therapies into the IMF. She sits on advisory boards for ATMPs and horizon scanning with an interest in shaping NHS data collection. She has presented at international conferences and worked with other HTA bodies abroad.

Before joining NICE, Catrin completed a PhD researching diagnosis of the acute coronary syndromes at Manchester Metropolitan University and graduated from University of Manchester with a BSc in Anatomical Sciences in 2012.
