Consultant Neurosurgeon & Clinical Lead for Neuro-oncology Salford Royal Hospital

Tina Karabatsou has been a Consultant Neurosurgeon at Salford Royal Hospital since 2007 and is the Clinical Lead for the Neuro-oncology service.

She received her medical degree from the University of Athens and trained in Neurosurgery in Greece and United Kingdom and undertook a specialist fellowship at Toronto Western Hospital in Canada.

Her sub-specialty interests are Neuro-oncology, Endoscopic Pituitary Surgery and Neurofibromatosis -1.

Main neurooncology interests: surgical treatment of benign and malignant brain tumours, awake craniotomies, intraoperative neurophysiology monitoring, fluorescence guided resection of brain tumours and pineal surgery.

Tina has a strong commitment in training, teaching, and mentoring and is the TSTL for Neurosurgery and Clinical Tutor for the Salford Clinical Fellow program.

Tina is part of the Manchester Multidisciplinary Neuro-oncology Research group and a member of various Neurosurgical and Neuro-oncology professional bodies.

She has a number of publications in peer review journals and has been an invited speaker at National & international meetings.
